This host is to be AVOIDED at all costs! They list a large number of features but...

    1. It took several phone calls and emails to get it set up in the first place. Just a standard setup, nothing special. The features were unusable for several hours once they did manage to set it up because the control panel is the hokiest thing I've ever seen and parts of it wouldn't even load until they fixed it (which took 3 phone calls and an email).

    2. Support sucks. Their site has a quote from a so-called customer that says their support is "facinating". This description takes on a whole new meaning after dealing with their incompetence.

    3. They tried to charge me multiple times to set up the crappiest ecommerce tool EVER. This thing is totally unusable! It took 2 days for them to get the admin interface to work at all. Like I want to have them host my ecomm when they can't even get it working for 2 days. Cummon!

    4. To top it all off, even though their site states that they have a 45 day moneyback guarantee, this is completely false! I gave up after a weekend of goofing around with the piece of crap. They then said "OH, well the money back guarantee doesn't apply to the setup fee". Phych.

All in all, a HORRIBLE host. I have 1and1.com, and although they charge a premium to add ASP and SQL, it is worth it because at least it works!

Yes I completely agree. I used the service for about 2 weeks. After that I was fed up with the slow speed, 60kb max downloads, so pages loaded very slow. I was using a DotNetNuke site and that made it even slower. I called them 10 times, and 35 days after i cancelled my account, I still didn't have my refund. I called up paypal, and created a compaint on their Resolution Center, within an hour I had $120 back. They charged me $140 in full, but like you said, Setup is non-refundable. I guess its not too bad, but I was worried that I wasn't going to get my money back. Persistanced paid off, but beware, Never use Webhost4Life, they are the worst webhost! They suck, and make money off of referrals, thats why you see good things about them. Its all bullshit, this is the truth about webhost4life.

I repeat, Never sign up with them, you have to pay a year's worth the service in advanded, they are complete bull shit!

I've been with them for 2 years and am questioning whether to stay. Tech support is fine to a point. Not always through which is farmed out any way.

Accounting sucks. They constantly over bill me hundreds and take 3 months to rectify it. If they do this with everyone - great cash flow.

I've just finished moving my sites the heck off this host, and will never use them again. We had frequent outtages, either because of a "Server Unavailable", or simply not being able to connect. I never went a week without at least one 30+ minute outtage during my tenure there.

I expect some downtime in a shared environment; I'm saying that even taking that into account, the site was down far too much.

Support? The only reponse I ever received in the ticketing system was "Try it now" even after explicitly asking for a cause and what is being done to resolve the issue.

Oh, and just for fun, open Enterprise Manager and count the number of databases on your server. You'll be lucky to get less than 700.

Their home page is a gigantic pack of lies. CNN doesn't have a speedometer (and never have); they are not rated #1; and according to my watchdog graphs of a couple of sites, they're uptime rate is in the low 80% range.

    Stay away from this host.

I've been using them for 3 yrs now and it's been working fine. I've upgraded my account to premium plan recently as well for more space, I don't have any problems. Supports is great too, because all my ticket request are replied within 30 mins. I haven't have this kind of support from else where. I don't have much problems with their accounting dept, so I have nothing to say =)

Webhost4life service has gone rapidly downhill, I'm surprised Thomas has had good service - perhaps you're still within the good pages :)

But seriously, if you can jump ship as soon as possible.

I used webhost4life for 3 months and it's working perfectly fine. I can always get to their support as well. Maybe they've gotten better? I alway see good posts and bad posts all over the net with every hosting company. I wonder if there's 1 hosting company that have nothing but good posts. I would stay away from 1and1.com for sure. 1and1 = bad

I gotta say so far, I am very happy with webhost4life. Webhost4life = good :p

I have very good experience so far with webhost4life. The reason I went with them was their customer testimonials at http://webhost4life.com/tes...
I havn't see any other host with these kind of testimonial on a daily basis.
Lucky enough, I did got the same excellent service from them.

It took WH4L 6 weeks to get an SSL installed for me! At one point, I had to walk the tech through some of the IIS setup for our site over the phone. Do not use these guys. Sure it's cheap, but when I calculated my hourly rate against the savings I THOUGHT I was getting, I was loosing money. We are pulling all of our client accounts from them after their last fiasco of dropping our SSL (yes, the one it took an excessive amount of time to setup in the first place). Again, steer clear unless you want hassles.

They answer trouble tickets. AND TROUBLE TICKETS ONLY. They never answer the phone. I doubt they're busy 24/7 with high call volumes. I waited for 3 hours on hold. I was disgusted and hung up. I have sent in testimonials of praise for their rapid response on trouble tickets, but I need to voice that they're extremely poor when it comes to phone support. THERE IS NONE

Yep, they suck big time. It's that simple. Too many problems to list. Things just stop working suddenly and you have to convice them that you didn't change anything. Seems like theres some kind of issue with them every week.

I am with WH4L and trying to get SSL installed.
Mahud, are their SSL servers different than the normal ones?
I am still trying to figure out how to get my asp.net apps moved to the SSL server if it is different. My support issues were generally resolved quickly except the SSL ticket which is now open for 5 days. Also, their support forum has nothing in it. StartLogic seems to have a better knowledge base.
Do you guys recommend any other provider for asp.net 2.0 with sql 2005, sharepoint, and win 2003 support?

Their customer service is one of the worst in the industry. If they owe you money on commissions, good luck collecting.
Real bad problems are ignored and all the decision makers are always travelling abroad.
Everyone with problems should submit complaints to the California Attorney General's office.

You can check hostmysite.com. So good, but their charges are bit high. Even though you pay them more, you get a nice service.

We have been with webhost4life.com for the past 3 years. We have around 25 Shared accounts, 2 VPS Email server, 1 Dedicated windows server.
We didnt had much problems with them, but don't say 100% good. They have problems what other have. We tried many hosting companies, but we see these guys are soo good. Their support is not soo good, as we need repeatly pull their legs. But they have now Live chat, so things are easy now.
Their VPS Email server is fine, going good. But we had some initial setup problems, but now its been sorted out and things are running now.
If you think of getting a 7-Star rated support with this cheap charge, then i think webhost cant help much.

I have a php site that loaded 100% yesterday. Today it is blank like there is a code error somewhere. The page runs 100% on a different server.
Do these people hack our pages and steal code from it?
I also lost 1 table out of a huge database during the week.
    How is it possible?
Bee with them for 3 years. That was 3 years to long!!!

I've had them for over a year. Great customer service compared to ipowerweb. I've experienced stable servers so far. I wanted to switch over to ipowerweb because of the cost of disk space. But I think I will stay after being put on hold at ipowerweb and getting haphazard live chat responses.

Webhost4life should be avoided at all costs! I agree. Their standard reply to the complaints is "Try it now". That is great, but out of 7 days I have had 4 outages from Service Unavailable to SqlServer does not exist. Their support is quick to respond but that is irrelevant if they cannot keep a site live for more than 48 hours. It requires contacting them to resurect the site. By the way, I am using the semi-dedicated account which costs $79 a month. But I kid you not that my $15 seekdotnet site performs extremely better than webhost4life. Bottom line, save yourself the headache and avoid them at all costs.

This will be my 3rd year with WebHost4Life. Lately the service has gone to hell--I too have had 4 outages in 7 days. Seems they have over sold their MySQL capacity. For the most part I have been satisfied with the price of the services compared with the level of support. But lately there have just been too many crashes. What sucks is the months before I reupped for another year things work great. A few weeks after paying and I am having to open daily tickets to point out the MySQL server is down.
Anyone have any recommendations for reliable, low-cost hosting?

I agree with everyone about "try it now" when they know they have not fixed it. They ask for all the info to duplicate the error but they never check to see if it was fixed? This company services and customer service really sucks. I would not recommend it to anyone. I had decided just to use it to manage my email list since I couldn't get any other app to work but I cannot even get it to work because of an out dated jamil component. I am on email 4 day 7 as I write this and to be honest I don't think it will ever be resolved. I sent them the error message but they just don't get it. This was a real waste of money.

yes, they suck. I too suffer from weekly outages for no apparent reason. They tell me to check with my developer when nothing on my end has changed. Worst customer service ever.

Webhost4life is doing good for me. Had a outage few months back but they fixed it very quickly. Support is fast. I can't say that they always fix the problem with one try, but at least I can get a respond from them within few minutes and usually fix the problem with no longer than an hour. I tried Godaddy and 1and1 in the past and what's what I call CRAPPY support service. Besides that, I don't see what's wrong with webhost4life and they price is the best I found so far for the kind of space they give for MSSQL.

I have used webhost4life for about 3 years.
They are the cheapest I found for asp.net multiple domains & sql server.
Seems like outages run in streaks--
I have gone perhaps a year without any outages, but then
I run into a bad streak where I have a database outage or asp.net outage every other day for a month, even though I changed nothing on my sites.
Support always tries to be helpful, but their standard reply is 'your server is up now, we don't know why it was down. Please contact us sooner so that we can trace it'.

I've had a few issues with their up-time in the past but in the last couple days these guys can't seem to stop from shooting themselves in the foot. A day ago they changed a setting that made my size quota for files 0 bytes - so when I uploaded a file, it would replace what was there with an empty file.
Just today I noticed several of my sites on the same account are down. At first I thought the server might be down, so my trouble ticket had a '1' level, meaning server down. It's been three hours and no response. You'd think that a minute after that kind of ticket was received the least they would do is send a response saying they saw the ticket.
I host sites for my wife's and two friends businesses - it's not like I make any money off of them, but their sites are too important to tolerate this lack of dependability. I won't be renewing my contract.

I signed up for a shared account at webhost4life.com. To be honest it was almost comical. Their support is useless, "Urgent Server Down" ticket that I sent took 4 days for first response. The response to the site being down (control panel was down as well meaning the entire server was down), was to clear the DNN log file and that should bring the server back up.
Control panel is a complete joke. Crashes almost hourly. You are lucky if it works at all. At least you can screw webhost4life with it. Go ahead and change permissions on a large directory with the control panel. It will crash the server. Happens all the time.
Biggest joke of a host, and hardly any professionals there. Heck the fact that their own website at webhost4life.com is down an awful lot should be a omen.
Get out, I did. They are crap and a waste of money.
There where 1744 different databases (used query to count them), on the MSSQL server I was on.
