Any Recommendations For A Good Place To Get A Drink In Redmond?

I mentioned I’ll be at the Microsoft campus next week. Scott Koon (aka LazyCoder) pinged me about meeting up for a drinky drink and geeky geek conversation and Sunday works best for him.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a place to get a good drink in or near Redmond? Perhaps BillG’s hidden stash on campus? Anybody want to join us? I think 10 or 10:30 PM works for me.

It’s standard procedure for me to roll into the morning session of a conference completely sleep deprived and trashed from the previous night’s celebrations. It just wouldn’t be right to not continue that tradition.

I’m also free Monday night as far as I know.

In Redmond itself, there aren't a lot of good bar choices, although you can get by with places like the bar at Red Robin. Additionally, you're going to be up against a culture that decides to go to bed at 9pm (seriously).

You might want to migrate to Bellevue (15 minutes drive from downtown Redmond). That will offer better choices. I'd recommend the Taphouse, which is open until 1am and has a HUGE beer and wine selection (not to mention will be more interesting to be in).

I might be able to make something later in the night (say after 8 or 9pm), depending on your schedule. Toss me an e-mail when your plans firm up.

JJ Mahoneys is pretty close to campus and has Boddingtons and Smithwicks on tap. Other than that, we'd have to meet up in Overlake or Bellevue.

The only other bar I know of on the eastside has turned into a biker bar, and not the kind of biker bar that is filled with guys that look like Santa Claus or Willie Nelson and have great stories to tell. The kind of bar where they compare shank scars they've gotten in prison right before someone slams a bike chain upside someones head.

Redmond kind of rolls up it's sidewalks early. ;)

I'd second both the Tap House and JJ's. The Tap House has a huge beer selection and the food is pretty good. They stay open fairly late too, so you can keep your reputation 8)

The Taphouse sounds good. I'll have to check it out once I'm up in Redmond

Phil Haack is going to be in town, so I asked him if he wanted to get together for an adult beverage

@Aaron I'm pretty familiar with Seattle and will probably be in Seattle most of the day hanging out with some old friends. I don't feel like crossing the bridge after I get checked into my Redmond hotel (3 blocks from MS). I won't have a car with me.

But do join us! Tap House sounds great.

Ok, let's meet at the Tap House at 9AM. My cell number is Three One Oh, Eight Six Nine, One One Three Four. Please no crank calls after 10:00 PM. If you wake the kid, I will hunt you down and let you try to get him back to sleep.

@Jason,
Have you spend 4 months with a tiny human who only sleeps for 2 hours at a time? You'd start drinking early too. ;)

The Workshop Tavern near the RTC is a good start, go to 7541 Leary Way NE. Another popular stop is Desert Fire Restaurant located on the RTC campus (opposite Borders). This whistle stop was sometimes referred to as RTC Bldg 7 (by Cingular worker bees). However, RTC Bldg 4,5 and 6 have been converted to MS office cubes. Also, there are two hot spots located on the uppder level of RTC. go to the stairs over Ruby's Diner, first cop a feel at Victoria's Secret under the stairs.
