Banned From Slashdot

This is amusing. I tried to view a post on Slashdot and got the following error page.

Banned from Slashdot Message

I have no idea why that would be the case. I think I have RSS Bandit configured to download the RSS feed every hour, which hardly qualifies as a DDOS attack. Interesting.

Phil,

Your ISP may be banned. Ask your ISP about this. Recently I got in same trouble with Community Server MVPs site which is hosted on a dedicated server on GoDaddy. GoDaddy has banned all IPs from my ISP for unknown reasons.

Looks like you've been Haacked! (sorry, couldn't resist)

I had this happen a few years ago. Some how, someone hacked our proxy server. I sent an email asking about it and got a snotty response from Commander Taco that the IP in question burned about 10% of his usage that day and that he would never unblock it for that reason. Struck me as arrogant. A few days later the matter resolved itself. Never found out why.

Seen this before. It appears almost randomly. I view Slashdot from work, and at odd times, it shows up. I really think this is /.'s version of the standard-error-page-served-in-error.

We've had this error too despite just two of us accessing Slashdot. It turned out that we had both installed a bunch of fixes and rebooted our machines a couple of times - RSS Bandit therefore accessed about 12 times in 5-10 minutes and we had this for a few hours.
