Dogfooding My Blog

Just upgraded my blog to the latest version of Subtext in the Subversion 1.9 branch, not that you needed to know that. I just appreciate you letting me know if you run into problems leaving a comment and such by using my Contact page.

Before I release 1.9.2 (long story why that's ends with a 2 and not 1), I need to update the Contact page so that spam filters also apply to the contact page.

Ok, no problem, let's see do you have an interval queue rule? ;-)

Yes, you have :-)

Phil,

Just one point: after I got this error "Sorry, but there is a delay between allowing comments originating from the same source. Please wait for 5 minutes and try again.", which I had to get, Live Comment Preview doesn't work anymore.

Yes, you have :-)

Phil,

Just two points:

1- After I got this error "Sorry, but there is a delay between allowing comments originating from the same source. Please wait for 5 minutes and try again.", which I had to get, Live Comment Preview doesn't work anymore.

2- 5 minutes for interval is a long time. I think one minute is good. I use it on my site and it works very very well.

Akismet support seems interesting. When we'll have this new Subtext release available for testing? Will the upgrade process without pains? :)

@Stefano, Upgrading from 1.9.x to 1.9.2 should be pretty straight forward and painfree. However, if you're moving from something pre-1.9 (which all ran on ASP.NET 1.1) then you'll need to follow the more complex (and possibly slightly painful) directions here.

Just helping test out the comments. Do you think I can say poker? How about Texas Hold-em?

I didn't turn on Akismet right away because I wanted to try out the Invisible Captcha on its own. It worked for comments, but not against trackback spam, as I expected.

Your TAG links all point to Technorati. Are there any plans with Subtext to handle tags internally?

# re: Dogfooding My Blog
Yes, we do have plans to support the tag microformat. So any links with the attribute rel="tag" will be parsed and inserted as metadata for a post so users can browse posts for a tag.

I clicked on the comments for this post and got an "application error timeout". But now it works.

obviously.

Thanks for the report. I just uploaded a small patch that should help.

invisible captcha FTW!

Also, why is "name" required? Isn't my email and website quite enough thank you very much? What next? Blood type? Eye color? DNA string?

@Atwood: Your name servers as your online handle. This handle helps people to recognize you quickly and determine if they want to pay attention to a comment [as in Haacked's case], or ignore a comment [as in your case].

I kid, I kid.... I'm a huge fan of CodingHorror.com.

Jeff, I would never display your email, so I need to display something. I can prefill that for you with "anonymous" if it'd keep your fingers from hurting so much by typing your name.

just to test this feature...

and when i'm here, i'll ask a question:
is there any workaround for setting up pre-installed skin for aggregate blog in multi-blog configuration... i tried to set up aggregate blog for two language versions on my blog, but on aggregate blog there is preset some skin that i don't like...
how to change it?

# re: Dogfooding My Blog
Unfortunately, no. You'll have to update Default.aspx manually to change the look of the aggregate blog. This is a feature we plan to do in the future.

What do you have to say?
