Can't Sleep, Feeling Sick, So I Code

Weird how coding on Subtext relaxes me. For the past couple days I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather and getting worse.  The weird part is that anytime I try and eat something, there’s a terrible after-taste. And no, it’s not my breathe.  I couldn’t finish my pizza tonight.  Pizza!

Anyways, I couldn’t sleep tonight so I figured hacking on some Subtext code might relax me.  I fixed some bugs and implemented FeedBurner support in Subtext, using the DasBlog code as a guide, though the way we implement feeds is much different.  It’ll come out in the next edition of Subtext.

Unfortunately, it may take me longer to release because although coding on Subtext feels good when I’m sick, QA testing doesn’t.

Bahh who needs testing. Just slap a beta label on it and call it good. :P

Good job Phil,

Everybody who sees SubText, abbreciate your work.

I was studing in a university far from my home with different weather. Doctor said I should use Ibuprofen and yes, it helped me to sleep at first nights when I was coming back from university.

Funny article Phil! Some of my friends and relatives think I spend too much time at the computer. Being a scientifically minded person, I decided to do some experiements. Over the last few months I have been using an accurate instrument to measure an important physiological parameter of my health. To my surprise, I found out that programming on a project I enjoy creates very positive measurements on this health parameter. Even programming for long periods of time without stopping to eat has produced measurements that indicate a very good state of health. On the other hand, some of the worst measurements have also been associated with computer use - for example, after reading stressful emails from my boss about bad news related to the company I work for.

Given what you said, I would bet that it could be shown that programming on Subtext is good for your health! ;)

I've the same experience... when I'm sad or feel depressed, working on ST is better than Prozac or Xanax (Phil, now if you start earning 15$ per click on this page... you know who to thanks :-))
Too bad (at least for my company) working on my real job code doesn't have the same effect ;-)

Last night I was suffering from a little insomnia so I decided to sit down and test the Subtext 1.9.2 codeset... and you know what - it was very relaxing and rewarding!

I uncovered (and fixed) several bugs related to installation, importing dotTEXT blogs, and some UI issues in the HostAdmin section. And when 2 a.m. rolled around I felt like I had done some good in the world and I was ready for a good night's sleep.

Now, if I could just find 3-4 hrs every day to commit to Subtext I'd be the happiest and best slept guy around!

NOTE: Phil, CoComment doesn't seem to be working quite right on your site. None of the comments that I've submitted the past few days are showing up on my CoComment page. Nor am I getting the CoComment pop-up that says "Your comment has been submitted to CoComment".
