We use and love it. It allows us to have our contractors enter their time into the system as well. The only thing that "Sucks" is that it will not work with FireFox, the Mac or Linux. So if you only use IE than your good.

It does what we need it to do and it allows all the partners of the company instant access to the books from anywhere. I don't know how many times I have been at a client and they say they don't have the invoice and I can then go into the browser select the invoice and email it to them from their own office!

It started out great, but the only way to reach help or support is by email. They guarantee a 30min response, but often never call. Most responses are days, not muniutes, and consist of canned computer responses not relevant help

I am a CPA who tried to use QBOE as the engine for all my clients. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I am no wailing because I have decided to convert all of my clients back to regular QuickBooks. It is costing me a fortune to do this.

Their technical service is horrifically awful. Their engineers go home at 5PM no matter how great the problem is. And don't even think of getting any service over a weekend. I had one technical problem with one client's file that took it down for over a week. They didn't even care. After hearing from a very angry client that didn't care what my technical problems were, that was it for me. I'm converting back and cancelling all my subscriptions.

I feel comfortable leaving my email address. Go ahead and ask me questions. I'll be glad to share my nightmare with you. james.andersenjr@gmail.com

DON'T DO IT!

We are on Macs and we were surprised to learn that it doesn't work in FireFox - you HAVE to use IE. So we have to start Parallels, run XP, start IE, log in, save our changes, and shut down Parallels just to do an invoice. IT'S TERRIBLE!

On top of that, we just tried to do an export of our data, and it won't let us because we don't have QuickBooks installed in XP under Parallels - it won't even let us bypass that to download the file so we can send it to our accountant. Total BS.

Still waiting to hear back from tech support.

DON'T USE QUICKBOOKS ONLINE!!!

I use both a Mac and a PC for my daily business. The biggest downside to Quickbooks online has been that it will only run on Firefox. However, I just read a blog post from July 2008 that said Intuit is working on removing ActiveX from Quickbooks Online which will make the system accessible with Firefox and Safari.

Other than that, the service has been great. I was previously using Quickbooks Simple Start as a local installation but this is much easier now that my employees can post their time and all of the data is central. I use a service called Minute7 to allow others to post their time and expenses.

They really need to update their servers. It has been getting slower and slower during the normal business hours!!!! If I had my choice, I would not even use quickbooks. This software is still stuck in the 80's even with upgrades. Look around, how far the technology has advanced......

This is the most frustrating product I have ever used on my computer. You would think something so simple wouldn't be so difficult to understand and look so ugly!

We have used it for a few years now and it is very frustrating. It locks transaction type for anything similar to a previous transaction. I loaned my business money very early on, by wiring funds to the corporate bank account. From then on ANY incoming wire is set as a wire from me to the company. I am able to change the internal account from which the funds come from but as 99% of all the wires we get now are from customers, I am unable to select customers, only internal accounts. QBO does this across all transaction types. The recommendations are usually worthless. Overall not impressed and we pay $400 per year for it.

I would suggest you find a different option.

Just started using it for a new company we setup. I thought it would be a fabulous solution to operate in a cloud with our corporate resources spread out over quite some distance. The ability to simply access the books over the internet seemed ideal.

I hope I have not made a HUGE mistake but in the last couple days I have been down more than up. This scares the hell out of me as we are a seasonal business (currently in the off season). If this were to occur during peak - I would be screwed.

I have read so many blogs that indicate there are chronic and unresolved issues with support and product stability for quite some time I believe I should "cut and run" now before I get too deep in this mess.

I am still in my trial period so I have a few weeks left for that.

Sooo disappointed in Intuit here. How do you bring a product to market with so little committment to support and overall stability?

If you need something to manage your products & pricing, as well as Purchase Orders and Invoices - I'd check out http://www.rocware.com. They have really responsive customer service.

It’s a SaaS platform ($50/month) that manages the items you buy & sell. It's completely integrated with POs and Invoices. When you input your items you are able to assign customized, private pricing - then share the product catalogs individually with customers.

Your customers can then create & send POs based directly on your product catalog. This is nice because:
1. It’s easier for your customers to place order with you (vs PDF sales sheets & POs attached to emails)
2. it’s easier for you to receive orders because you know the POs will always come through with the correct product & pricing info.

Quickbooks online horrible. Stay away from this product. The basic version (Essentials) is useless for any practical purposes. A simple entry for a client can't be done on the Essentials version. You have to upgrade to the Plus version for 50% more in monthly price. This is just plain awful and it is done to squeeze every penny from the customers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY.

Avoid if you need a real accounting system. The cons of this shoddy product far outweigh the benefits of being cloud-based.
