ReSharper 1.5 Released! Includes New Refactorings

Evolution of DevelopmentJet Brains released a free upgrade to their ReSharper product. Let me tell you, using this product feels like walking on land after a long stint trying to walk under water.

Recently, I was trying to write some code on a coworker's computer and kept hitting funky key combinations that had no meaning on his machine since he didn't have this installed. I had to actually type out a bunch of code that just spills out when using this add-in. It felt so stone age.

Just to be complete, I know many are fans of CodeRush for Visual Studio. I liked it enough, but the lack of Refactoring support was a problem for me, which is why I chose ReSharper.

why you still developing in Visual Studio 2003 anyways? Come get with it and use use 2005 beta 1!! :)

I have to check this product out. I have been developing a product for the last 5 months in 2005 and have grown to love the refactoring additions to 2005!

Hey I also noticed that you are posting very little on your blog these days. Maybe because now because its on your dime you not willing to spend the time :) To me it always amazing on how many blogs are updated on company time and very little is done on the weekends. Its like this one site I developed where the majority of the hits were the first thing in the morning and at lunch. When it was after work the hits drop off a ton and very little traffic on the weekends.

Ha ha... Beta 2 should be out any time with a Go-Live license. I'll wait then and try to convince my clients to do likewise. But until I have a project that requires .NET 2.0, I'm afraid to give myself the luxury that VS.NET 2005 provides. I'll grow lazy and soft and have trouble using VS.NET 2003 for real work. ;)

As for little blog posting, mainly it's been because I've been spending more time researching insurance, tax law, contracts, etc... Maybe I should blog about that, but I figured it's boring stuff.

Also, I need to figure out what is acceptable to blog about with each new client. I hope to continue blogging as a source of professional development, but I won't do it on client time. I'll stop the clock if I want to do it during the day.

I think alot of your fans would be interested in what you have found out as far as taxes and insurance goes. I bet you have a lot of readers that are on the fence about going Indy or not.

Yeah I was just busting your chops about you lack of blogging. Maybe your just finally sick of it!

Don't worry, the EAP for ReSharper 2.0 will be starting in about 2 months -- for both VS .NET 2003 and 2005 ... as always, ReSharper is gonna add MORE to VS .NET than comes standard -- and if you're a customer now, you'll be upgrading for FREE. ;-)

Best regards,
